Description:
The HV Protection Engineer will report to the Asset Manager and be involved throughout planned outages testing primary and secondary assets. The ability to lead a team or work as part of a team, he/she will also act as a mentor for more junior members of the commissioning/Asset management team.
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Electrical Engineering Degree
- 5 years’ + relevant industry experience
- Flexibility/Adaptability
- IT Literacy
- Strong communication skills
- Good understanding of electrical schematics.
- An enthusiastic approach, being self-motivated and well-organised
- A significant understanding of health and safety procedures in the working environment
- Operational experience with the latest protection test equipment
Responsibilities:
- Carry out electrical testing on primary and secondary equipment on maintenance shutdowns.
- Possess the skills to carry out troubleshooting on LV, HV and electrical systems.
- Configuration of protection relays, RTU, PLC, Power quality meters, and other substation automation systems.
- Required to carry out HV switching operations
- Complete customer reports.
- Reports equipment defects issues to Asset Manager
- Assists engineers with development
