The Opportunity
Our NGTL Operations Group is currently seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our Grande Prairie Area team based in Grande Prairie or Fairview, AB.
Reporting to the Area Manager, Grande Prairie Compression, the HVAC Technician will maintain HVAC equipment in a manner that meets operational needs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills.
The regular work schedule for this position will be:
Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off
Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday

What you’ll do

  • Perform mechanical maintenance on HVAC axillary equipment in gas compression & measurement facilities
  • Perform inspections on glycol boilers, air conditioners, air make up units, heating systems for natural gas compression & measurement facilities
  • Participate in mechanical inspections, overhauls, and preventative maintenance in the Northern NGTL Region
  • Complete job quality assurance documents (JQA’s) and work authorization/job safety analysis (JSA’s) along with other electronic documentation
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems utilizing technical reference manuals and documents
  • Supervise and coordinate third party contractors
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel
  • Demonstrate safety leadership
  • Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low to medium complexity projects with effective work management practices such as time management, work sequencing, and contractor oversight
  • Collaborate and support our business partners as required
  • Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP

Minimum Qualifications

  • Journeyman certification in a related field (i.e., Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Gas Fitter)
  • 2 years of technical training from a recognized institution may be considered
  • 5 years of proven experience troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating HVAC equipment in industrial facilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading drawings
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC systems
  • Computerized maintenance management system and SAP experience

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract (record) for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Provide emergency support as required
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required, which will involve overnight stays away from home base (estimated up 60% of work schedule)
