Description:

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly motivated, independent, and skilled Hydraulic Modelling Engineer to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The successful candidate will primarily focus on the hydraulic modelling of water supply and distribution systems and, to a lesser extent, on the hydrodynamic modelling of sanitary sewer systems. The role will involve various responsibilities tailored to the candidate’s expertise, experience, and fit within the current team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in hydraulic modelling of water supply and distribution systems.
  • Experience with hydrodynamic modelling of sanitary sewer systems is an asset.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWater, Water GEMS, ,Hammer, InfoWorks, ICM, etc.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain it is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Data and Information Collection and Synthesis
  • Gather and analyze data related to water supply and distribution systems, as well as sanitary sewer systems.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to collect necessary project information.
  • Synthesize collected data into actionable insights for modelling and analysis.
  • Hydraulic Modelling
  • Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., InfoWater, Water GEMS, Hammer, InfoWorks ICM, etc.) to develop and calibrate hydraulic models.
  • Perform simulations and analyses to evaluate the performance of water distribution and sewer systems.
  • Interpret modelling results to identify system improvements, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, amongst other matters.
  • Field Testing Coordination and Execution
  • Plan and coordinate field testing activities to gather real-world data for model calibration and validation.
  • Execute field tests, ensuring accurate data collection and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Analyze field test results to refine and validate hydraulic models.
  • Report Writing
  • Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Ensure reports meet project requirements, client expectations, and regulatory standards.
