REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant IT qualification
  • IBM Manta course
  • IBMi System Administrator Certification
  • Relevant IBM Approved Badges
  • At least 3 - 5 years working experience on the IBMi (AS400)

Responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE

To maintain the system software environment for business purposes, including the day-to-day maintenance of systems, including hardware, operating system, and associated software to keep them running smoothly.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible to administer all IBMi servers (Audits, Security, HA, Production, Development, DRP, 3rd party software etc.)
  • Following and performing the accurate escalation processes and communicate on the relevant incidents via Jira
  • Collaborating and working with the Infrastructure teams to deliver required service levels, Maintain and clean-up business unit applications in conjunctions with them
  • Investigating, diagnosing and taking prescribed actions on all technical events, operational events, alarms and incidents
  • Maintaining all security related aspects on all IBMi servers
  • Contributeing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Identifying any business risk, fault with systems or services and escalate accordingly
  • Troubleshooting issues with IBM supplied tools and interactions with vendors like IBM, Oracle, etc.
  • Responsible for disaster recovery and HA solutions. Role swap environments to accomplish high availability
  • Upgrade IBMi servers and applications when needed to be on supported versions of IBMi, XCOM, CD, Implementer
  • In event of system failures provide support and resolutions to recover systems
  • Installing and maintaining IBMi patches (PTF’s) and management thereof
  • Liaising with customers or management in event of failures and restarts of key customer business applications
  • Accuracy with following procedures and requests
  • Operating/Administrating IBMi Systems and deploy according to procedures
  • Monitoring of IBMi Systems
  • Liaising on a regular basis with business units, developer and BA’s
  • Performing regular checks and ensure that all infrastructure are maintained according to policies to function optimally
  • Ensuring system checks are done within time scales defined and troubleshoot any potential problems or existing problems timeously
  • Investigating audit findings and implement solutions where needed including SANS guidelines
  • Updating all relevant documentation with relation to all IBMi administrative tasks and procedures
  • Supporting Operational staff
  • Providing innovative ideas to improve the environment and make valuable contribution to the business needs and processes
  • Effective management of all system resources to save cost
  • Provide technical leadership and ownership of issues across multiple disciplines and technologies.
  • Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Identify technical innovation and process improvement opportunitie including Cloud solutions
  • Research and implement appropriate System Administration best practices, and tools.
  • Jira knowledge and logging and maintaining calls
  • Creation of user profiles and maintaining of profiles
  • Reports management, upload reports, do monthly reports for management, Q-reports and Yearly reports
  • Manage and understand FACS processes
