Transport UK London Bus operates bus services across London on behalf of TFL, plus rail replacement and event services across the UK. We operate over nine per cent of the London’s bus network, running 800 vehicles and employing around 2,700 employees across six depots in Central, South and West London. We run a number of routes, carrying over 150 million passengers a year on TfL’s contracted bus network.

Duties include:

  • Manage routes under their control to the required levels of performance in either EWT or On Time performance ensuring company targets are achieved as a minimum and exceeded where possible
  • To be fully conversant with the iBus control strategies and complete role specific paperwork, eg, mileage tracker, event logs, code blue or red, GDiS, radio fault log, curtailment sheets, FNOL, as and when required.
  • Accurately record and log incidents details of lost mileage in line with company procedures.
  • Liaise with Engineers, Senior Controllers (Mentors), Performance Managers, TfL, NMCC, TSG and London Bus Officials with regards to service disruptions, in order to meet the required performance standards.
  • Ensure that all company rules and regulations are adhered to and communicate incidents that may affect operations to appropriate Managers and Directors.
  • Responsible for always providing clear instructions to Performance Staff, ensuring that they fully understand what is required and what has been asked.
  • To support Drivers in maintaining good customer relations, ensuring all enquiries and complaints are dealt with promptly and effectively to ensure a high standard of customer service.
  • To provide an efficient, regular and high-quality bus service by supervising services and staff at terminals, garages and intermediate points along the routes.
  • To develop a good working relationship with Drivers and other support staff.
  • Have a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times, including a duty to report unsafe acts or omission to safety.

All candidates must:

  • Ability to demonstrate to work under pressure and challenging environment yet stay professional and friendly towards the staff.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • A good work ethic and attendance record.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Preferably with various relevant supervisory or staff management experience but not required.
  • Ability to encourage, coach and guide Drivers to achieve the standards and levels of performance expected by Transport UK London Bus.
  • Conversant with the rules and regulations for Drivers including Drivers Hours Regulations.
