Job Description
As an Immigration Specialist, you will help drive greater business value and partnership for our employees needing immigration support and our international assignee population. This role will encompass service line and global market support, as well as internal functions such as Global People, Employment Tax, and Finance. You will assist in executing the day-to-day immigration needs (both US and global) as we move staff and leaders across the globe.
The role involves collaborating across multiple organizations to ensure the effective execution of our immigration strategy, including US and global immigration and compliance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Participate in the administration of the U.S. Immigration program.
  • Engage with global immigration counsel to support the transfer of employees to various McDonald’s entities around the world.
  • Direct service providers engaged to support our immigration needs.
  • Provide immigration consultations to various stakeholders, such as Talent, business leaders, hiring managers, employees, etc.
  • Identify process and/or policy gaps, and provide detailed analysis of immigration matters.
  • Ensure a high-quality experience to internal stakeholders and employees.
  • Coordinate immigration applications and visas, permanent residency sponsorship process, as well as other tasks needed to support immigration programs in coordination with outside law firm.
  • Stay up to date of sponsored employees’ job changes (locations, duties, terminations) to ensure immigration status is compliant.
  • Maintain immigration and global mobility records.
  • Participate in immigration education by creating and/or updating immigration resources and process flows for key stakeholders, including Talent, HR Business Partners, business leaders and employees.
  • Assist with invoice management, including initial approvals, reviews, and appropriate allocation.
  • Facilitate relationships with Global Assignees, teams involved in global assignments and relocations, Corporate Controller Group, Area of the World Markets, and other Partners.
  • Collaborate with global mobility team on various initiatives to ensure continuous process improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, International Relations or related field.
  • 3+ years of US immigration experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a technical role within US immigration, in-house immigration, immigration law firm, and/or public accounting firm’s global mobility services team
  • Knowledge in US visa types, processes and experience reviewing case facts to determine the optimal immigration strategy.
  • Working knowledge of global immigration processes and procedures.
  • Deep understanding of immigration processes and policies that facilitate quality control and program enhancements.
  • Recognize critical factors and risks of a particular situation, anticipate and plan for consequences of decisions and make recommendations based on available facts and leveraging company policies and practices.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization; specific strength in influencing decision makers and leading expectations.
  • Proven track-record of handling multiple projects at once with thoughtful prioritization and utilization of continuous improvement approach.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and raise issues optimally.
  • Able to mentor partners and transfer knowledge to internal collaborators and colleagues.
  • Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of Global Mobility experience
  • Deep understanding of global mobility programs, processes and policies that facilitate quality control and program enhancements.
  • Experience as a Global Mobility Case Manager for international assignees coming into and leaving from North America.
  • Experience reviewing cost estimates, engaging with service providers and providing support to staff and leaders.
  • Experience facilitating relationships with Global Assignees, teams involved in global assignments and relocations.
  • Experience working with vendors on Tax Equalization, Housing & Relocation Assistance, Benefits, Education Support, etc.
