We currently have an opportunity for an Inhouse Solicitor to operate as part of the Flogas Energy Regulation & Compliance Team and reporting to the Regulation & Compliance Director.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

Strategic thinking and foresight: Possess the ability to plan for future known and unknow eventualities. To plan for the possible impact to the business of regulatory and legal decisions
Interpersonal, networking and influencing skills: The ability to nurture great relationships internally with their own team and leaders of other teams and third parties.
Problem-solving and analytical skills: Should be adept at interpreting and leveraging data to understand audits, legal determinations and have the ability to plan for large- and small-scale projects as well as manage calculated risk on the company’s behalf.
Presentation skills: Be adept at presentations, and the ability to present complex data to a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITY:

  • Qualified solicitor with strong post qualification experience obtained in a top tier Irish or international firm or in-house.
  • Expertise / relevant experience of the SEM; knowledge of other wholesale electricity markets.
  • Enjoys complex technical material with strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in one of the following desirable as: energy or similarly licenced utilities or other related energy activity.
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating complex commercial and/or corporate contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication detailed orientated who has proven negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • A high level of motivation and a friendly manner to enable effective and positive engagement with colleagues, external legal support and key stakeholders.
  • The ability to work proactively and within a team, with an ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Experience in leading/working with teams across different disciplines to deliver complex technical projects.

Responsibilities:

As an Inhouse Solicitor at Flogas, you will be responsible for managing the growing workload of all legal activities relating to the gas and electricity supply, renewables, trading and energy services business on behalf of Flogas Ireland.
This role is pivotal for Flogas Ireland in the achievement of Flogas Energy’s overall goals, growth ambitions and objectives. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to manage our legal activities and work as a key member of the Regulation and Compliance team.
You will oversee and manage legal activities on behalf of Flogas including managing day to day requirements along with assigned projects.
As an Inhouse Solicitor, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, for dealing with many types of people at all levels in a direct diplomatic way. You will work with the Regulation & Compliance Director to determine and support in the implementation of the regulation & compliance strategy for Flogas Ireland. Ensuring that we fulfil all our statutory, legal obligations as well as adhering to the guidance principles and protocols of key Flogas policies.
Please note this role may be based in Drogheda or Dublin, depending on candidates preference.
