SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Senior level experience working within Victoria’s emergency management arrangements.
• Knowledge of AIIMS and emergency management frameworks.
• Ability to implement performance management and development frameworks that manage staff performance, build organisational capability, and support individual development objectives; create and promote and environment that appropriately balances teamwork and individual accountability; provides timely, constructive, and objective feedback.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Manager, Air, Odour and Noise Sciences, the Incident Monitoring Lead leads and manages a small team responsible for supporting scientific response services during an incident or emergency to aid with rapid scientific understanding of risks. You will lead a small team who enable the delivery of high quality air and environmental monitoring, development of incident monitoring doctrine and training to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
This is a senior role for an experienced scientist that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. Working closely with the Manager, Air, Odour and Noise Sciences, you will lead and manage a team through change, ensuring a positive organisational culture and that the highest standards of performance and integrity are achieved; and fostering genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to deliver organisational outcomes.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

• Lead and manage a team to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity; manage the allocation of resources, budgets, business and project planning and reporting; and demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive culture and the development of staff.
• Coordinate the Incident Monitoring capability to enable rapid response monitoring and investigation for air, water and contaminated land providing improved scientific advice during emergency incidents.
• Facilitate the deployment of equipment by coordinating maintenance, calibration, servicing, and repairs of EPA’s Incident Monitoring equipment and fleet, in line with EPA’s emergency response protocols.
• Manage the development, review and implementation of protocols and procedures, participate in incident debriefs and findings to ensure continuous improvement.
• Liaise with other stakeholders in the emergency management space to develop partnerships enabling the effective delivery of incident monitoring services.
