Description:

IDEA Organizational Leadership:

  • Provide organizational leadership in the further development and implementation of IDEA action plans.
  • Working closely with the HR and Operations Manager, and the People and Culture Committee, work to continually improve MFRC’s HR policies and procedures through an IDEA lens, and communicate these policies effectively to teams. Manage and guide all IDEA efforts to understand, assess, evaluate, and foster opportunities and strategies to embed IDEA in all facets of MFRC’s employee experiences.
  • Working closely with MFRC’s Program Managers, embed IDEA principles into existing and new MFRC programs and services, ensuring equity, accessibility and a sense of belonging are at the core of what we do at MFRC

Necessary Skills/Qualifications and Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge of, and practical experience in, advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and reconciliation principles, approaches, and best practices.
  • Lived experience navigating the intersecting systems of inequity and oppression that impact equity-deserving groups.
  • Understanding of Indigenous Traditional Knowledge and practices and/or experience working with FNMI communities.
  • Commitment to building long-term relationships between key partners.
  • An attentive and compassionate approach that invites people into IDEA work.
  • Team and people-oriented work style and ability to thrive in complexity.
  • Ability to think strategically, communicate effectively and foster teamwork.
  • Three or more years of project management experience is considered an asset.
  • Multilingualism is considered an asset

Responsibilities:

IDEA Organizational Leadership:

New Program and Project Development

  • Engage with Malvern Family Resource Centre members and stakeholders to understand IDEA-focused community needs.
  • Seek out relevant funding and project partnerships through leveraging existing partnerships relationships, building new relationships and exploring solicited and unsolicited engagement opportunities.
  • Working closely with MFRC’s Executive Director and Program Director, as well as external consultants, prepare new program and project collateral including pitch-decks, one-pagers, letters of intent and full written proposals that respond to community needs.

IDEA Departmental Leadership

  • Drive the impact of IDEA external programs and initiatives which currently focuses on supporting Black-identifying students and their families navigate the educational system as well as overseeing the trusteeing of resident-led short-term projects.
  • Complete all narrative and financial reports and other submissions as required by IDEA funding agreements in consultation with IDEA staff and members of the management team.
  • Develop and monitor IDEA budgets in conjunction with MFRC’s finance team.
  • Participation in the recruitment and hiring of IDEA staff, placement students and volunteers.
