Nasdaq’s Index and Supporting Methodologies are the client-facing description of how Nasdaq’s indexes are built and maintained, and how the various data and algorithms that drive index management decisions are defined. Methodologies are meant to be comprehensive and unambiguous to the reader.
The Index Methodology Senior Analyst is responsible for the standards and quality of Nasdaq’s Index Construction, Rebalance, and Reconstitution methodologies as well as supporting methodology documents that form Nasdaq’s client-facing methodology artifacts. The Index Methodology Senior Analyst will collaborate with internal stakeholders to draft and edit methodology documents covering all capital markets, but primarily equities.

The Index Methodology Senior Analyst will be a central point of contact for internal teams that participate in all facets of the index development and management lifecycle. The Senior Analyst will take ownership for cross-functional initiatives and participate in organization-wide projects, while providing guidance and expertise on an as needed basis.

  • Responsible and accountable for executing on team initiatives through the successful collaboration with various internal stakeholder groups, which include but are not limited to Index Research, Models, Operations, Governance, and New Product
  • Work within an Agile project environment supporting time-sensitive initiatives such as methodology changes, industry-driven business changes with set target dates, and strategic changes that are established as part of the business planning cycle
  • Collaborate with internal teams to clarify index construction and maintenance rules, ensuring that written methodologies are consistent with the intended operation of the index
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Nasdaq’s methodologies to all internal teams, including Benchmark Administration, Risk Management, and Client Service
  • Support the execution of IOSCO Governance controls around methodology reviews and updates
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are followed for review, approval, and publication of new or changing methodologies

What we are looking for:

  • Index industry experience, either with an index provider, and index data aggregator, or a passive portfolio manager
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ professional experience or an advanced degree.
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing (English-language) instructions, user guides, or client collateral that are understandable and unambiguous (samples may be required)
  • Strong project management skills with experience executing on projects through the successful collaboration with multiple internal stakeholder teams
  • Experience improving existing processes and creating new workflows that resulted in business improvement and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to conduct independent research, execute quantitative and qualitative analyses, and present findings in a business-friendly way
  • Detailed understanding of global financial market data, including trading data, corporate actions, and company financial statements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and well versed in programming languages including Python, R, and SQL
  • Experience setting clear, challenging, and measurable goals while initiating and producing metrics to support progress
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation and speaking skills

The base pay range for this role is $53,400 - $89,100. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
