Description:

About the role
Permanent full time opportunity to be responsible for the delivery of culturally appropriate health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, including supporting accessible and equitable health outcomes, in the context of meeting individual needs.
About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health’s values:

  • Advocate on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and attend to their needs by providing comfort and support, through the provision of culturally appropriate and relevant advice and liaison services, during acute in-patient admissions and outpatient occasions of service.
  • Support clinicians in communicating treatment plans, discharge planning and clinical information to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families, utilising a culturally appropriate and evidence-based framework.
  • Support increasing Cultural Capability of Clinicians and Staff through the provision of on-going education and training in the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, appropriate communication strategies and the importance of establishing rapport with the patients.
