Position Summary

The European Public Affairs (EPA) Office monitors EU policy & law, including a variety of strategic advocacy activities towards the EU institutions.
The role of “Industrial Policy & State Aid” sits within the “Industrial” Part of the “EU Policy” Group and will be responsible for all EU industrial policy & state aid initiatives, including in relation to the impact of EU industrial policy initiatives that impact Samsung Electronics (SE) products, services and business entities in the EU.
EPA’s Industrial Part is currently involved in monitoring and shaping various ongoing EU policy initiatives related to: trade; customs and tax in relation to the EU’s industrial policy agenda. While your role will be focused on the EU’s broader industrial policy initiatives & state aid, you will be expected to remain flexible to assist the Industrial Part in other areas within their remit as necesarry.
Beyond the Industrial Part, EPA’s EU Policy Group also monitors and shapes various ongoing EU initiatives related to: digital & sustinability policy. You will be expected to cooperate with these teams as necesarry in relation to your: industrial policy & state aid focus.
Role and Responsibilities

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor & sense future EU policies & laws that impact SE’s products & services;
  • Deliver clear information on such EU developments to appropriate HQ teams including Global Public Affairs (GPA) team on a regular basis;
  • Aid the development of SE’s positions on EU policy;
  • Advocate SE’s positions towards key EU policy makers and trade associations;
  • Explain finalised laws to HQ, GPA, legal & compliance teams to ensure effective handover for company preparation.

  • Fully comprehensive written english that efficiently explains complex EU law in laymans terms to aid business understanding;
  • Ability to build and shape campagins in reaction to EU legislative developments;
  • Ability to manage various tasks/projects at once with other team members and ensure efficent delivery of goals;
  • Quick thinker;
  • High level of integrity;
  • Open to different ideas;
  • Persuasive;
  • Proactive and enterprising;
  • Ability to asses business goals and set: short; medium and long term priorities;
  • Have an approachable and open mindset to solve problems of the business;

  • University degree (essential);
  • Have at least 3 years experience in EU public affairs (essential);
  • Have experince of working in 1 of the EU institutions (desirable);
  • Have advanced knowledge of English (essential);
  • Have knowledge of 1 other European language (desirable).
