Description:

The School of Science delivers high quality research across a range of disciplines (artificial intelligence and machine learning, chemistry, cybersecurity, data science, ecology, environmental science, food science, horticulture, and mathematical modelling). Research in the school is led by highly qualified, dedicated and internationally-recognised academics and our valuable external partnerships facilitate relevant research with impact.
Under the direction of the School Executive, specifically the Associate Dean of Research and the Operations Manager, the Industry Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for expanding industry research partnerships and driving industry engagement for researchers in the School of Science. The role will facilitate and support researcher-led engagement with external partners to strengthen networks and grow research income.

SUITABLE CANDIDATES WILL MEET THE FOLLOWING CAPABILITIES:

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and subsequent experience OR equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation.
Demonstrated experience with industry engagement including the provision of advice and recommendations on issues related to research-industry engagement and relevant previous experience coordinating industry-focussed activities and the planning and implementation of programs and events.
Ability to organise and present information, views and concepts in a concise, understandable and interesting format for a variety of audiences including ECU’s internal and external communities. Involves determining the most appropriate format and vehicle for delivering information to ensure the audiences understanding of the message and its intent.
Independently setting objectives, prioritising tasks, managing time, resources and monitoring progress to achieve desired outcomes.
Ability to work efficiently in a constantly changing environment and to develop, investigate and take on board out-of the-norm ideas/suggestions and put these into practice resulting in novel ways to do things.
Identifying, building and maintaining formal and informal networks and business relationships that are important to achieve strategic objectives
Ability to influence the decisions, actions or perceptions of others and to be straight forward and honest when doing so.
Collaborate with other work units within ECU as internal customers, and treated with quality customer service as would external customers. Marketing products, services and outcomes of the work unit to those within the internal environment.

Benefits & Remuneration
This part time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $100,512 to $112,622pa pro-rata plus 17% University superannuation contribution.

Responsibilities:

Planning and execution of the Schools research engagement strategy building relationships to build research grant income.
Build mutually beneficial partner ecosystems with industry, community and government to actively drive industry-based research partnership and funding opportunities through a range of engagement activities.
Deliver and manage events and training activities for academic staff to develop and strengthen capability in researcher led industry engagement.
Work with ECU Service Centres, to support academic staff research activities, training and development associated with research engagement with industry, government and community.
