Description:

Job Title: Cybersecurity Analyst
Department/Group: Business Division B / FedEx Information Security (InfoSec)
Reports to: Information Security Technical Supervisor
Classification: Part-time (hourly) non-exempt

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop alerts and fine-tune existing alerts to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of alert logic to align with evolving threats and attack vectors.
  • Dynamic workflow/project management utilizing Agile methodologies.
  • Document alerting processes, procedures, and configurations for knowledge sharing and training purposes.
  • Communicate technical issues and resolutions to Client, the team and leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with FedEx cybersecurity teams in alignment with UMRFV leadership.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Follow UMRFV guidelines and policies.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge of computer systems.
  • Experience with Java, Python, and Linux Command Line.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled college student.
  • Graduate student in STEM discipline preferred

Responsibilities:

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The InfoSec Cybersecurity Analyst completes assigned tasks in the FedEx InfoSec environment to meet the overall project objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop custom alerts to detect security incidents and anomalies.
  • Utilize Splunk’s search processing language (SPL) to query, analyze, and visualize data for alerting purposes.
  • Utilize advanced tooling to investigate potential cybersecurity threats.
