About this role
Job Purpose/Background:
BIS is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual interested in working in a fast-paced, international environment as a member of a closely-knit team in the alternative investment industry. The candidate assumes a multi-faceted role which requires a passion for infrastructure investments, an entrepreneurial spirit, strong analytical and conceptual skills, flexibility, as well as dedicated client service orientation.
As part of the Portfolio Management team the candidate will support the entire lifespan of an investor’s infrastructure portfolio from objective setting and portfolio planning, portfolio construction, performance tracking & analytics as well as platform-strategic projects.
The candidate will be responsible for leading a broad set of activities across portfolio construction and ongoing monitoring, which requires developing a broad understanding of BIS’ business and investment strategies. In fulfilling his/her tasks the position holder will have the opportunity to closely interact with other departments within BlackRock such as Product Strategy, Investment Management, the Sustainability Team, Risk Management & Quantitative Analysis, Legal, Tax, Fund Administration, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to portfolio planning and tailor-made portfolio construction in line with investors’ portfolio objectives including during the marketing or launch phase of a new client portfolio
  • Responsible for portfolio modelling and analytics such as cash flow and NAV projections as well as leading other quantitative and qualitative portfolio analyses
  • Support a fair allocation process across all BIS managed portfolio
  • Support and drive ESG thought leadership for investor portfolios
  • Support RFP process for mandates and new products
  • Prepare portfolio performance reviews, assist with exposure analyses and stress testing
  • Follow industry trends and provide thought leadership for portfolio construction
  • Develop varied industry- or client-related analyses

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Demonstrated record of academic achievement and leadership
  • 1-3 years experience in the financial services / asset management / private market industry and/or consulting
  • Fluency in English and other languages (in particular German, French or Japanese) a plus
  • Full proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Knowledge of Python (or equivalent) a plus

Skills/Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure investment environment and/ or portfolio management background preferable
  • Strong service orientation
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an ability to synthesize complex ideas
  • Ability to work as part of an internationally distributed team
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
