INNOVATION DISCOVERY MANAGER (SCIENCE & ENGINEERING)
Salary: £45,891
Location: Office based-hybrid (3 days minimum in the office)
Employment type: Permanent, Full time
Division/Team: Innovation Discovery
Hours Per Week: 35 hours
The Innovation Factory is the Technology Transfer Office for the University of Manchester. We work with academic and student inventors to identify innovative opportunities which create social, economic and environmental impact. We then develop these opportunities into commercially valuable Intellectual Property licenses or spin out businesses.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Innovation Discovery Manager (Science & Engineering). Working within the Innovation Discovery Team and reporting to the Head of Innovation Discovery. The key objectives of the role are:
- To engage with inventors and innovators and identify, assess and record innovative opportunities which have commercial potential.
- To educate and explain the advantages of commercialisation to academics.
The successful candidate will have the following essential skills, experience and qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in the field of Science & Engineering, a focus on Physics, Electronic Engineering or Computer sciences would be preferred
- Curious about new Science and Engineering developments and market-specific trends.
- Considers all facts and thinks broadly about the commercial impact before making decisions
- Understands and keeps up to date with Innovation Factory objectives and performance targets
- Builds strong relationships with inventors and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Respects and works according to the Innovation Factory’s company values,
- Higher degree in a Science & Engineering related subject is essential.
