Job Description:
The Instructional Design Specialist is primarily responsible for developing and designing interactive blended learning programs, multi-media and other tools that align with organizational training needs, requirements and/or processes.

Essential Details and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and update proprietary training related to processes, products, and operations functions using a variety of authoring tools and methods to produce blended learning solutions for a range of workplace environments including store, distribution center and corporate office.
  • Support the assessment and identification of training needs aligned with business objectives.
  • Work with learning managers and team to confirm course specifications and resolves gaps.
  • Ensure accessibility (AODA) compliance and course consistency per brand standards.
  • Support learning projects with cross-functional teams to create engaging blended learning for all learners.
  • Self-starter able to manage competing priorities and deliver projects in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Update job aids, facilitator guides, classroom slides, participant guides, and on-the-job training material.
  • Maintain an understanding of the pet industry and demonstrate working knowledge of training best practices, trends and adult learning principles.

Experience, Education, Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-5 years of proven work experience in instructional design and eLearning development.
  • 2+ years of experience using ADDIE to develop and implement training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of course development software, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Rise and Evolve
  • Experience designing and editing with graphic media tools, video, audio animation/motion graphics and simulations
  • Experience building virtual instructor led sessions and classroom training materials an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of current trends in training and adult learning.
  • CTDP or equivalent is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French) is an asset.
