PRACTICE EDUCATION

Nature & Scope of Work
Instruct clinical courses in the Health Care Assistant program to assist students to acquire personal care skills within the parameters of the Health Care Assistant role. The clinical instructor leads a clinical placement or guides a practicum which supports the students as they develop caregiver skills that maintain and promote the comfort, safety and independence of individuals in care facilities and community contexts.

Instructors teaching Theory, Lab, or Practice Education, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare all materials required for instruction
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Mark all assignments and assign final grades
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours on campus
  • Attend regularly scheduled department and faculty meetings
  • Participate on University committees as required
  • Work collaboratively with other HCA faculty members and staff
  • Liaise with community complex care facilities, assisted living sites and home support agencies, as needed.
  • Adhere to the duties and responsibilities as stated in the Collective Agreement.
