QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Experience
  • Masters in field (e.g. MSc CS, ME CS, MSE)
  • 5 years in industry working in an intermediate to senior developer role, at least 2 years current experience working in a relevant role:
  • Software Developer/Programmer/Engineer
  • Full Stack Developer
  • Mobile App Developer
  • Systems Analyst
  • DevOps Engineer
  • Ability to pass a skills test to demonstrate proficiency
  • Professional References

  • PhD an asset
  • Azure Developer Associate Certification or equivalent in AWS/GCP an asset

Skills Required

  • Experience with full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • In-depth knowledge of software design patterns, architectural principles and relevant software development frameworks, libraries and tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in industry - managing software teams in best practices; developing and monitoring project plans; driving adoption of methodologies, coding standards and quality assurance practices; promoting collaboration; providing mentoring and training opportunities.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (Python, Java, or C#)
  • Experience with development of complex web applications with demonstrated knowledge in: front-end build tools and frameworks (React, Angular, Vue), web security, performance optimization, accessibility and cross-browser compatibility, server-side programming language/framework, API development/integration, web server configuration, and debugging/troubleshooting.
  • Mobile application development an asset
  • Proficiency in database design, querying and optimization with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with best practices in database security, backup and recovery strategies, performance optimization, scalability and availability.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of cloud-based architecture and services.
  • Understanding of software testing principles and practices, including unit testing, integration testing and automated testing.
  • Knowledge of networking architecture, protocols and technologies.
  • Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience with multiple strategies for application deployment, DevOps principles and implementation of CI/CD.
  • Demonstrate an ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, programming languages, and development frameworks.
  • Willingness to keep up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Classroom management and teaching skills an asset
  • Effective communication, organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities:

  • Classroom management: prepare and present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstration for learners
  • Inclusion of past industry experiences with lesson planning and effective delivery of course material
  • Maintain records for the purpose of grading, assess professionalism and track attendance in both theory and lab classes
  • Ensure a positive and engaging learning environment and demonstrate use of creative and interactive methods for presenting material and concepts
  • Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
  • Deep understanding of program vision, values, and goals to provide ongoing development and revision of course content
  • Curriculum maintenance and development to remain up to date with Industry best practices
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and continuous collaboration with the Academic Chair and other instructional staff to provide the highest degree of learner experience
  • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
  • Remain current on industry standards while also ensuring vision of future and upcoming technology trends emerging within industry.
