Job description:
DESY-Zeuthen
ULTRASAT is a space mission mapping the ultraviolet (UV) sky. Its primary science objective is to search for counterparts of gravitational wave sources. The satellite mission is led by the Israeli Space Agency and the Weizmann Institute of Science. DESY in Zeuthen develops, produces, and tests the CMOS UV camera for ULTRASAT.

About your role:

  • Active role in the CMOS sensor performance characterisation including radiation hardness tests for space
  • Environments and UV response
  • Execution of test campaigns and data analysis
  • Active role in ULTRASAT mission reviews
  • Maintenance of calibration set-up

About you:

  • At least master degree (PhD beneficial) in physics, electronics, space engineering, or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience with optical sensors, preferably CMOS
  • Experience in radiation and/or optical testing
  • Experience in Software development
  • Experience with programming of hardware control of test stands
  • Excellent knowledge of python
  • Professional fluency in German and English speaking and writing
