ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Methanex is currently seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer (Maintenance & Reliability) to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB, on a full-time basis.
The Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer supports and collaborates with all departments to provide reliability and engineering expertise with a focus on plant maintenance, loss prevention, risk management, and life cycle asset management. You will be responsible for engineering and managing minor modifications to plant systems and/or equipment, providing technical support as required to complete corrective work orders, and supporting the development & implementation of the plant reliability program.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage technical minor modifications to equipment utilizing the Management of Change (MOC) procedure.
  • Manage contract engineering services related to modifications and upgrades.
  • Provide engineering design deliverables for modifying, upgrading, or making emergency changes to equipment as required by operations and/or maintenance teams, in accordance with site
  • MOC procedures and all appropriate codes, standards, guidelines, and specifications.
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance and Operations departments as required.
  • Ensure all assigned work scopes are in compliance with Canadian Electrical Code, Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA), and all other applicable regulations, codes, and standards in Alberta.
  • Analyze asset performance to identify issues and ensure processes are in place to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
  • Perform robust data-based reliability analysis using statistical modeling, reliability modeling and prediction, fault tree analysis, and Weibull analysis.
  • Perform equipment failure investigations with key stakeholders and SMEs using appropriate root cause analysis tools as part of Defect Elimination and Bad Actor Programs.
  • Utilize the Management of Change (MOC) procedure to provide, manage, and execute engineering solutions to equipment failures and other issues that impact plant reliability within their specific engineering discipline.
  • Maintain the site vulnerability list to ensure vulnerabilities are identified, prioritized, and mitigation plans are progressed.
  • Provide input into risk assessments related to site assets and systems.
  • Deliver on assigned global initiatives as set by the Global Manufacturing Team (GMT), Global Maintenance Management Team (GMMT), or Global Reliability Team (GRT).
  • Provide leadership to Maintenance & Operations Supervisors to identify, analyze, and execute on reliability initiatives set by the Local Reliability Team (LRT) and Site Management Team (SMT).
  • Actively participate in the site’s behavioral-based safety program by completing safety observations on a weekly basis.
