In this position, you will leverage your instrumentation expertise to drive digital transformation and operational excellence within the manufacturing industry.
The preferred location for this position is Richmond, BC, however, we will welcome highly skilled and experienced candidates residing close to a major airport, anywhere in Canada.
What You Will Be Doing
Here’s an overview of your responsibilities and how you can leverage your expertise:
Conduct audits of industrial facilities to assess instrumentation needs and propose engineering designs and estimates for electrical instrumentation upgrades.
Design, specify, and implement instrumentation systems for pulp and paper manufacturing processes, including sensors, control valves, analyzers, and related equipment
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of instrumentation-related issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability
Review vendor quotes and documentation to ensure appropriate instrument application
Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages, including electrical and instrumentation design drawings, installation specifications, and other supporting documentation.
Develop control narratives, logic diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), instrument indexes, instrument data sheets and instrument loop sheets
Provide technical installation direction to engineering contractors and/or mill personnel

What We’re Looking For
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following:
A bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, preferably in Industrial Instrumentation / Automation, or Electrical Engineering
Minimum of ten (5) years’ experience in instrumentation and control systems
Knowledge in large brownfield instrumentation and controls upgrade projects
Knowledge in a large variety of instrumentation and special devices in Pulp & Paper; can consider candidates with oil and gas and chemical processing facilities experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) an asset
Travel 10-30%
Authorized to work in Canada
