Description:

The post holder will work on own initiative to support the Emergency Department to promote flow standards through ED, including time of discharge using an overarching principle that no aspect of a patients care or treatment is delayed.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective support across the ED clinical area as well as liaising with Nurse and Consultant in charge.
The post holder will support Nurse/Consultant in charge with data analysis to support patient flow.
The post holder will support ED Nursing and Medical staff in tackling delays and facilitating patient flow and effective discharge/transfer through the use of available administrative systems, particularly board rounds.
The post holder will monitor compliance with Tier 1 targets and patient flow standards to identify key blockages in ED.
The post holder will provide regular reports on activity and process compliance to the ED Nurse in Charge.
The posts are substantive posts and will develop over time. They are intended to support the implementation of Morriston Hospital patient flow within ED, to reduce and remove delays in the patient pathway, improve outcomes for patients, so that patient treatment will be both safe and more efficient, with fewer delayed waiting times.
The Post holders will support the Emergency Department in undertaking audit and measurement of patient flow standards at Morriston Hospital.
Monitoring and correction of delays, and board rounds and engagement of ward staff will be reviewed.
To constantly maintain an accurate, real time, record of patient attendances within the department on computerised systems.
Use good communications and interpersonal skills to interact with tact and diplomacy with staff and patients at all levels.
Function as a team player being considerate and flexible, taking the needs of all staff into consideration. Exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful hospital environment at all times.

Responsible for updating the computerised system with live information.
Support the ED teams during board rounds by recording key findings, performing delegated tasks and providing accurate, up to date information to the ED Nurse in charge regarding patient flow.
Collation and escalation of patient delays to the Nurse/Consultant in charge of ED via the Board round and Manager of the Day structure.
Support the department during board rounds to identify delays using a range of clinical and non-clinical data and plan actions as required.
To implement any planned actions required, liaising as appropriate with managerial, clinical and medical staffing.
Monitor compliance with established procedures and policy requirements and ensure that delays are recorded, analysed and reported. This will include analysing a range of clinical and non-clinical data and advising ED Matron of the findings.
Expedite delays and feed outcomes to ED Matron for site meetings or patient flow meetings and develop an issues log for weekly discussion.
The post holder will be responsible for the development of procedures in own area of activity to ensure patient flow is effective.
Ensure patient ED records are completed, by Medical/Nursing staff, escalating delays to Nurse/Consultant in charge.
Receive investigations and reports including urgent telephone results, ensure they are communicated to the relevant Clinician/Nurse in charge, and appropriately dealt with immediately.
To chase up blood, X-ray and Ultrasound results and prompt Clinical staff to see their patients in a timely fashion.
Ensure any discharge problems are escalated to the ED Nurse/Consultant in charge
