DESCRIPTION:

The Interim Manager, Residence Life Programming and Program Partnerships will coordinate all aspects of residence programming and program related partnerships, manage Residence Office social media communications, and fulfill a share of staff supervision with other managers in the Residence and Campus Life Office. This position’s primary areas of responsibility are:

  • Develop, deliver, and assess a residence education-based framework with established learning outcomes and assessment plans, informed by current student development research and residence life standards, and in alignment with King’s academic mission. This framework will include: residence programming, student staff unit programming, posted materials, social media content, and student staff training modules to support programming requirements.
  • Manage Residence Office social media accounts related to residence life programming.
  • Develop and implement social media communications, linked to time-specific information needs, and residence life program.
  • Oversee KUCRC (Residence Council) training, leadership development and activities.
  • Manage the residence life programming budget. Develop and manage student positions as required in support of program delivery.
  • Assume assigned portion of shared responsibilities for the effective management of residence operations, including: residence staff supervision, minor conduct issues, and day to day issues in assigned units; resident support and follow up in assigned units, participation in staff training, and hiring process; afterhours, weekend, holiday on call responsibilities; general support for arising day to day issues, and office coverage
  • Develop partnerships and collaborative planning and program delivery with key partners on campus in support of the residence programming plan (e.g.: Campus Ministry, The Write Place, academic mentoring programs, etc.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (UNLESS IDENTIFIED AS PREFERRED):

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years experience in residence operations, or another applicable student services role
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, juggle complex tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation (public speaking), interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in the application of student development theory and learning strategies are an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment and the ability to work effectively with staff, students, faculty and external stakeholders.
  • Employment based expereince in social media content creation and communication plans
  • Proficient with a wide range of technical systems and tools as a regular function of work, including content management systems, project management software, databases, word processing and spreadsheet applications such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Requires flexibility to work beyond regular office hours for extended hours at peak operational times (eg: staff training end of August, start of residence year in September), with the expectation of regular evening and weekend work in support of programming, and oncall duties on a scheduled basis (September-end of contract).
  • Experience integrating culturally sensitive and innovative approaches to programming, based in anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
