Interior Design Manufacture Feasibility Engineer
12-Month Contract

Autoscan provides Quality Inspection, Containment & Quality Engineering Services to the Automotive, Off Highway, and all types of manufacturing industries and their supply chain.
We have an exciting opportunity to work at one of our automotive specialist customer sites based in Crewe as an Interior Design Manufacture Feasibility Engineer, on a 12-month contract basis, starting June 2024.
You’ll influence product concept, style and part design through data analysis, technical knowledge and supporting recommendations as well as validation of assembly feasibility for key parts/systems and areas, at regular intervals to align with key project milestones.
You’ll also be responsible for completion of targeted studies to compare feasibility of different concept proposals for key components/areas, including recommendations for concept selection.
The delivery of targeted studies will also be important to demonstrate requirements for a feasible design (i.e. changes required to product design, assembly sequence and facilities to ensure a feasible assembly condition.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Ability to influence key stakeholders to gain agreement to implement change and improvement to the product design concept
  • Substantial engineering experience in subject matter under consideration (seating and interior)
  • Experience of working within manufacturing and/or a production environment
  • Understanding of trim development
  • Basic understanding of legislation relating to interior design (manufacture feasibility)
  • Understanding of perceived quality, and virtual perceived quality
  • Understanding of product tear down and benchmarking
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes applicable to the subject matter
  • Understanding of industrial engineering in relation to DFM
  • Experience of vehicle interior quality audit processes
  • Strong understanding of development and application of materials relating to the subject matter
  • Six Sigma, with green belt as a minimum qualification level will be required for this role
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of structured problem solving tools (such as 8D, A3)
  • Knowledge of tolerance analysis, dimensional management, variation simulation analysis, manufacturing simulation (using Delmia or ICIDO)
  • Understanding of how to carry out build and analysis of physical properties
  • Experience in application of DFMEA and PFMEA
  • A strong attention to detail combined with the ability to problem solve and deliver tangible improvements within a deadline and to budget
  • Experience of leading and embedding a transformational way of working
  • Project management skills with the ability to effectively plan, prioritise and manage multiple projects in parallel
