SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITES

As the Intermediate Accountant you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Independently complete reviews, compilation files and related tax preparation, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • On larger engagements, begin to prepare more complex areas of the file
  • Draft corporate tax returns and prepare appropriate tax checklists
  • Prepare personal tax returns including gathering, sorting and entering client information into TaxPrep
  • Build effective working relationships in assignments with operational client contacts
  • Respond effectively to client requests
  • Begin to perform research and prepare more complex opinions for technical conclusions on client engagements
  • Provide suggestions related to an assignment or project
  • Complete In house assignments such as accounting research or office administration
  • Support and coach junior staff members or staff accountants on the team, as required.

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

  • Two or more years of public accounting experience

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a University Accounting degree and working towards obtaining their CPA designation.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian Tax to be able to complete the more complex areas of an engagement
  • Teamwork and the ability to support team goals
  • Strong commitment to quality and accuracy
  • Development of a business advisor mindset is important
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with external clients.
  • Strong project management skills and organization, with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Caseware/Jazz-it, Tax Prep, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting
