Description:

Location: Head office (229 Yonge Street)
Status: Full-Time
Permanent Hours: 35 hours per week
Union/Non: This is a Non-unionized position

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Preferably holds or is progressing towards an accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, ACCA).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
  • Experience in not-for-profit organizations, mental health, or healthcare is advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Word) and accounting software (Sage or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially under tight deadlines.
  • High-level critical thinking skills to identify underlying issues and trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Effective time-management and analytical skills, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the workplace.

Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, including payables, accruals, and receivables.
  • Identify financial errors and recommend corrective actions to ensure accuracy.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Analyze monthly financial information, comparing actual results to budget, and provide variance explanations for the Director of Finance’s review.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements and government reports.
  • Assist in preparing Quarterly, Interim, and Annual filing requirements for various funding sources.
  • Support in the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and other reports.
  • File monthly GST/PST returns and other statutory and regulatory required filings.
  • Assist with financial audits and the preparation of tax returns.
  • Prepare full cycle accounting records and entries for the organization’s Foundation.
  • Identify financial requirements associated with each funding source and ensure compliance.
  • Generate various ad hoc accounting reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

  • Foster positive interpersonal relationships with stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and external agencies.
  • Maintain adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Attend work consistently in line with the Director of Finance’s hybrid work requirements.
