Description:
Location: Head office (229 Yonge Street)
Status: Full-Time
Permanent Hours: 35 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
- Preferably holds or is progressing towards an accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, ACCA).
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
- Experience in not-for-profit organizations, mental health, or healthcare is advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Word) and accounting software (Sage or equivalent).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially under tight deadlines.
- High-level critical thinking skills to identify underlying issues and trends.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Effective time-management and analytical skills, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the workplace.
Responsibilities:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, including payables, accruals, and receivables.
- Identify financial errors and recommend corrective actions to ensure accuracy.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Analyze monthly financial information, comparing actual results to budget, and provide variance explanations for the Director of Finance’s review.
- Responsible for timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements and government reports.
- Assist in preparing Quarterly, Interim, and Annual filing requirements for various funding sources.
- Support in the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and other reports.
- File monthly GST/PST returns and other statutory and regulatory required filings.
- Assist with financial audits and the preparation of tax returns.
- Prepare full cycle accounting records and entries for the organization’s Foundation.
- Identify financial requirements associated with each funding source and ensure compliance.
- Generate various ad hoc accounting reports as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
