THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly-motivated and enthusiastic Intermediate Environmental Technician to join a well-established team of environmental professionals based out of our Terrace office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the technical components of environmental projects and providing technical support to project managers. Responsibilities will include a variety of tasks, such as:

  • Leading and supervising field teams in various disciplines (fish and/or amphibian salvage, water quality monitoring, environmental monitoring/inspection, wildlife assessments, fisheries inventories)
  • Conducting environmental monitoring and inspection during construction activities
  • Implementing and reviewing erosion and sediment control measures
  • Recording data and observations in an accurate and well-organized manner
  • Preparing technical reports detailing environmental assessments and monitoring activities
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors
  • Providing technical leadership within a team environment
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Working collaboratively within Triton corporate culture

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates will possess the following skills, traits, and qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or technical diploma in biology or related field
  • Professional designation or eligibility for same (e.g., R.P.Bio., RBTech., A.Sc.T.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting surveys in a variety of service sectors (i.e., water quality, fisheries inventories and salvage, wildlife assessments, environmental monitoring/inspection)
  • Demonstrated field experience leading environmental teams
  • Good working knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation
  • Effective technical writing skills, including reporting and document review
  • Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipment
  • Proven ability to work independently for long days in the field
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Valid driver’s license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

The compensation range for this position is $26-$35 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.
