Description:

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Lines Design Engineer to join our Calgary engineering team. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.
Responsibilities:

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 500kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility, national or international standards and codes.
  • Interact with internal / external contacts as necessary for design details.
  • Support Professional Engineers with detailed technical studies and/or calculations; preparation of cost estimates; the creation of equipment specifications and installation standards; requests for quotation; evaluation of new equipment
  • Develop material and construction specifications.
  • Provide procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluations
  • Develop overhead and underground structures and equipment structure spotting.
  • Design and evaluate various electrical equipment components.
  • Work with Telecom designers in fibre design for the approval and implementation of joint-use applications.
  • Aid in the preparation of design packages for client reviews and construction.
  • Escalate design issues to Professional Engineers for review and direction
  • Perform calculations related to the design of overhead and underground systems.
  • Review of designs to ensure accuracy, perform quality control and quality checks prior to project release.
  • Support project co-ordination documentation and activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.
  • Provide construction support.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Electrical/Civil Engineering Technology or Degree in Electrical/Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in design, and construction is an asset
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with power system operations, practices, and installation standards would be ideal
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
