Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design and drafting of mechanical HVAC and Plumbing systems for a variety of projects. Under the guidance of a senior mechanical designer and project manager, you will have the opportunity to work independently while also providing leadership and mentorship to junior team members.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with accreditation as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng. or PE).
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in mechanical HVAC and Plumbing design preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction drawings interpretation, and current codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with Reinbold design and documentation standards.
  • Proficiency in building heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently execute specified scopes with minimal supervision.
  • Provide leadership by coaching and delegating design tasks to team members based on their aptitude.
  • Mentor and supervise Mechanical Designers, ensuring adherence to standards and guidelines.
  • Place and size distribution systems and equipment according to industry standards.
  • Perform load calculations and collaborate directly with suppliers for equipment selection.
  • Prepare schematic design, development, and construction documents in AutoCAD or REVIT.
  • Review work for errors and omissions prior to supervisor review, using project review checklist and clash detection software.
  • Assist with drawing specifications and coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines.
  • Identify additional services and fees, communicating timely with project managers.
  • Assist with Contract Administration including shop drawing review, RFI responses, and on-site review.
  • Attend design and construction meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets, striving for high-quality workmanship and timely delivery.
