The role. What you will do:
Our Water team in Wellington is fast growing and we are looking for an Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in water and wastewater treatment plants and water and wastewater conveyancing networks to join us in delivering exciting projects across New Zealand,with a specific focus on the Lower North Island.
In this role, you will contribute to the design of various projects, including large municipal wastewater & water treatment plants, commercial onsite treatment systems, community treatment plants, and industrial trade waste treatment systems.
As a key member of our multidisciplinary team this role would see you responsible for preparing concept and detailed mechanical engineering designs, producing technical and commercial specifications, drawings, and schedules on a range of projects as well as providing support and mentoring to build the capacity of junior engineers and taking an active part in the development of the treatment team.
You would work in close partnership with our Graduate, Senior and Principal Engineers, the Clients and Contractors through all design phases and into the construction phase. Your contribution will help to continue to grow our presence in the Wellington Region as well as improve the quality of water and wastewater treatment in New Zealand through the projects we deliver.
About You:
A passion for delivering high quality water projects for our communities, and the ability and energy to work in a team environment is highly desirable. Your well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and guide key stakeholders will set you up for success from the start of your career at Mott MacDonald.
The successful candidate for this role should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering with proven experience in water/wastewater/industrial treatment projects. You should also have expertise in mechanical engineering for both new and existing treatment plants. Ideally, you will be a Chartered Engineer or progressing towards being Chartered.
Additionally, you should exhibit a proactive approach to design, a drive for innovation to add value, excellent client liaison and communication skills, and a strong team-orientated ethos. You will have experience working in multidisciplinary teams, and at a Senior level, an interest in leading and mentoring junior engineers to foster collaboration with both internal teams, Clients and other stakeholders in the supply chain.
