Equinox Engineering Ltd., a leading EPCM firm headquartered in Calgary, specializes in oil and gas processing, providing comprehensive services in facilities design, implementation, and operational support for natural gas, conventional, and heavy oil projects. Our clientele includes major oil and gas producers in Canada and globally, and we are actively engaged in diverse sweet gas, sour gas, conventional oil, heavy oil facility, and pipeline projects.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an Intermediate Process Engineer to contribute to the process system design of multi-discipline projects. Operating in the dynamic environment of Calgary, the successful candidate will handle multiple projects concurrently, ensuring the timely completion of all project deliverables. The Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in transforming practical concepts into commission-ready designs.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Prior experience in sweet and sour gas projects within an EPCM environment.
  • Broad exposure to gas compressor station and gas plant facilities design
  • Exposure to vendor calculations and documents review
  • Broad exposure to heavy oil or sweet and sour gas facility design and construction, encompassing field facilities (production pads, wells, and flowlines) and processing facilities (steam generation, bitumen production treatment, water and gas handling).
  • Familiarity with technical specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of oil and gas experience in an EPCM environment.
  • Proven process design experience, including mass balances, process flow diagrams, and process support services.
  • Systems design experience, covering piping and instrument diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, hazard and operability design reviews, and systems support services.
  • Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS familiarity with PipeSIM or similar, and other process related simulation software.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Lead Process Engineer to address and communicate issues impacting process engineering design, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct Feasibility Studies, Conceptual Design, Process Studies, and Detailed Engineering Design.
  • Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS and related simulation software for pipeline hydraulics and exchanger rating etc.
  • Familiarity with engineering codes (API, ASME, ISO) and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop crucial design documents, including Material Balance, PFD’s, P&ID’s/LDT, Control Narratives and Shutdown Keys.
  • Conduct Equipment sizing, line sizing, PSV sizing, Hysys Flarenet simulations, and prepare equipment and Instrument process data sheets.
  • Exposure to sweet and sour natural gas facility design and construction related to field facilities, including well-sites, gathering systems, compression, etc., and grass roots gas processing plants.
  • Exposure to NGL recovery, Acid gas injection dehydration, Refrigeration, Sulphur Plant, Turbo-Expanders, and Gas Sweetening units is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate the capability to assume the responsibilities of a Lead Engineer.
