In Canada, Tetra Tech is a leading Airport Consultant offering a broad range of services to the airport industry in practice areas that include facility assessments, planning, design, environmental, regulatory, and construction management of airport facilities and related infrastructure. As a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technologists, aviation specialists, pilots, former airport management and planners, our dedicated Airports Group provides a unique perspective to clients in understanding and delivering projects.
We are currently seeking an Intermediate Airports Engineer to join our Vancouver, BC office location. In support of our expanding services and market area, we are seeking an energetic individual to play a vital role in the growth of our organization. Reporting to the Manager of the Airports Group, the successful candidate will provide airfield engineering services related to project management, planning, assessments, design, site inspection and contract administration services.
The salary range for this position is $95K to $115K per annum. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS THAT WOULD MAKE YOU A GREAT CANDIDATE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent diploma with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in civil engineering in Canada, specifically in airport design / project management. This hands-on experience ensures familiarity with the intricacies of airport infrastructure and project execution.
  • Airport design and project experience.
  • Knowledge of Transport Canada, ICAO, and FAA guidelines is essential. Understanding regulatory requirements is crucial for compliance and safety.
  • Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with airport-related projects in various aspects.
  • Proven skills employing civil (airport) engineering fundamentals including geometric, pavement, and grading designs, following design guidelines and standards.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD / Civil3D is advantageous. Proficiency in these software tools facilitates efficient design and drafting processes.
  • Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) or stormwater management would be an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are necessary for effective collaboration with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in writing reports, technical memos, and client communications ensures clear documentation and effective project communication.
  • Must be well organized and capable of managing and prioritizing numerous tasks. This commitment ensures successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and quality management.
  • Proven success in delivering high-quality projects on time and on budget demonstrates competence and reliability.
  • An aptitude for, and interest in, planning, scheduling, and financial management. This contributes to effective project execution.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team environment ensures adaptability and flexibility.
  • Demonstrate good teamwork skills and share leadership responsibilities for smaller team.
  • Possession of a valid Canadian driver’s license.
  • Must be able and willing to travel for business on a frequent basis as may be required for site visits and project-related travel.
  • Professional engineering registration in Canada would be an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise and coordinate with clients, project team and stakeholders
  • Develop sound technical solutions including assessment, design, evaluation and construction strategy for airport airfield infrastructure
  • Prepare project drawings, specifications, cost estimates, operational plans, schedules and various project deliverables
  • Prepare and maintain quality checks of designs, drawings, specifications, quantity calculations and tender documents
  • Prepare technical letters and reviews, reports, quality control documents, memos and other documentation
  • Identify, address and resolve technical design, operational and construction issues and conflicts as needed to deliver the work plan
  • Provide project management tasks including client liaison, tracking and reporting progress against the work plan, budgets and deliverables
  • Plan, monitor, and execute projects by developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, plans of construction operations, schedules, and completion of deliverables ensuring high quality projects are completed on time and on budget
  • Participate in RFP evaluations and proposal preparation
