Description:

CBCL is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical & Instrumentation team in Halifax, NS. Reporting to the Manager, Electrical and Instrumentation, the Electrical Engineer will work collaboratively with a team of engineers, project managers and technologists across disciplines.
In this role, you will take on a leadership role in the management, planning, and execution of electrical projects for industrial facilities, water & wastewater treatment plants, buildings, pump stations and other similar infrastructure. The variety of projects and opportunities will allow you to be part of many exciting and innovative projects, to experience rewarding challenges, and to find solutions to unique problems.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada with eligibility for registration withEngineers NS;
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience, 10+ years a strong asset;
  • Experience working in a consulting engineering environment is preferred;
  • Electrical design experience in industrial (oil and gas, manufacturing plants, or similar) and water & wastewater will be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of PLC-based control systems and instrumentation will be considered an asset;
  • Familiarity working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with team members and other disciplines;
  • Detail oriented, organized, hard working, and team player attitude;
  • Performs well under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Detail orientated, organized and have effective time management skills; and
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide electrical engineering advice and support to other disciplines and clients;
  • Coordinate and manage electrical related projects;
  • Design and preparation of contract documents for the following systems: medium, and low voltage power distribution, lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm, instrumentation, and control systems;
  • Develop technical specifications for electrical and related systems;
  • Complete electrical engineering studies;
  • Prepare designs in accordance with the most recent electrical codes and standards;
  • Incorporation of safety and risk analysis into designs;
  • Conduct site surveys of existing conditions;
  • Preparation of electrical cost estimates;
  • Coordinate internally with multidisciplinary teams for a wide variety of projects;
  • Assure that all work on assigned projects is timely, within budget, accurate, and in-line with corporate and/or project specific quality and safety objectives;
  • Organize, plan, schedule and coordinate own work and that of team members;
  • Complete construction administration tasks including field observations during construction;
  • Meet and liaise with clients;
  • Assist in the development of proposals and business development; andProvide mentorship to junior staff.
