Description:

ERM’s Strategy and Disclosure team, within our broader Sustainability & Climate Solutions (S&CS) function, is growing quickly. We are looking for consultants to support us in helping our clients shape and deliver on their climate strategies and disclosure requirements. There is a significant opportunity for individuals to progress within the organisation, to take increasing responsibility for managing our work within the climate change space, and developing market-leading offerings to meet our clients’ needs.
Organisations are increasingly expected, and required to, calculate the financial impact of key climate risks and opportunities on their business. This is being driven by several initiatives, including the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) - now subsumed into the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). ERM is in the process of developing a market leading service offering on financial quantification, and continuously delivers financial quantification exercises for clients across all major sectors.
This role will focus on financial quantification climate-related risk and opportunity. However, there are opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to all of our team’s work across the climate change space. More details of the role, as well as the skills required to fulfil it, are detailed below.
Key responsibilities:

As a member of the Strategy and Disclosure team, you will:

  • Support client delivery by working with team members across the business – including contributing to client presentations and workshops
  • On climate-related risk and opportunity, a focus on financial quantification of risks and opportunities, and drafting disclosures based on the results of this quantification
  • Develop climate risk and opportunity calculation methodologies that can be delivered within projects
  • Develop Financial Quantification output templates that can be used within projects
  • Review public disclosures on Financial Quantification across a number of industries
  • Map Financial Quantification onto existing team skills and services; identify gaps
  • Support business development and sales-related activities, including helping senior colleagues to draft client proposals and develop new offers
  • Contribute to ERM’s innovation and knowledge-sharing through ad-hoc involvement in thought leadership, internal newsletters, learning sessions, amongst other initiatives

Required:

  • Background - Climate Change/Sustainability knowledge. Understands the fundamentals of why climate change is happening, how it will start to affect business models/strategy/company revenue, Capex, Opex etc.
  • Motivational Fit – Produce high-quality client ready outputs, can work independently, team player, demonstrates critical thinking and is comfortable with ambiguity
  • Regulatory & Finance knowledge - some experience of ESG reporting frameworks such as TCFD/ISSB/CSRD etc., undertaken climate scenario analysis, navigate through annual reports & climate related disclosures and an appreciation of how to think about implementing regulatory change
  • Experience of Financial Modelling - Advanced user of Microsoft Excel with experience of building financial models, quantitative analysis and data manipulation (knowledge of climate change is highly desirable)
  • Communication - Excellent communication skills, particularly relating to packaging complex outputs into a digestible format and communicating technical and strategic concepts to a non-technical audience through workshops and presentations

  • Experience (whether through study or a professional role) of working with climate related risks and opportunities
