JOB SUMMARY

We are looking to build a highly skilled inhouse internal audit team, and this is a fabulous opportunity for someone looking to start their career.
This role combines learning and practical on the job training. At the end of it all, you’ll have a level 4 apprenticeship in Internal Audit. You’ll be fully supported by our experienced and friendly team to meet the learning requirements of the qualification.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below, the post holder would spend 20 percent of their time on apprenticeship work and be given the opportunity to work with the Senior Auditors to develop in this profession, by building knowledge of risks, controls, and business systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Internal Audit function has built a strong reputation within the organisation and is continually seeking ways to enhance and improve its own service, and the ways in which the organisation delivers on its priorities and objectives.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain wide-ranging experience and access to various colleagues of all levels across the whole organisation. The work you do will contribute to the completion of a programme of audits considering key risks across the organisation complying with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Somebody with an enquiring mind, a keen interest in learning about and understanding business processes, and who enjoys finding better ways of doing things.
  • You will have good organisational and time management skills, able to manage competing priorities.
  • To be successful in this role communication skills are key, both written, and oral.
  • You will need to be a confident person who enjoys building long lasting relationships with people and can quickly grasp complex issues and be able to explain them to stakeholders in a way they can understand.

QUALIFICATIONS

Apprenticeship Eligibility:

  • The apprentice will be expected to have two A-Levels/equivalent or suitable work-based experience.
  • At least 5 GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Standard Eligibility criteria for apprenticeships apply:

  • You must not already have a qualification of the same type, content and level.
  • You must not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
  • The training provider makes the final decision on whether funding can be provided to the individual.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Deputy Heads of Internal Audit and Senior Auditor in undertaking audit fieldwork, and in testing business controls, drafting initial findings for review, attending meetings to take minutes.
  • Complete working papers for review, ensuring quality and professional standards are met.
  • Assisting the Senior Auditor with tracking audit recommendations agreed by clients and keeping relevant management information up to date.
  • Liaising with ONS business support staff and our co-sourced partners to set up meetings to discuss audit matters.
  • Monitoring the central Internal Audit inbox, dealing with, and directing incoming queries.
  • Dealing with requests for document sharing and maintaining permission groups in our Audit SharePoint site in line with data protection requirements.
