Description
Alief - International Services YMCA is a unique branch of the YMCA of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston’s significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a Match Grant Job Developer on our team, you will play an integral role in helping refugees, SIVs, immigrants and other eligible clients gain access to a wide range of services with the goal of becoming self-sufficient.

REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Previous sales or customer service experience is helpful; knowledge of the Houston job market.
Bilingual in any refugee language is required.
An understanding of and sensitivity to other cultures is necessary.
Ability to manage time and resources.
Team player.
Highly self-motivated, responsive, and a good troubleshooter.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Valid Texas Drivers License; clean driving record; own transportation; applicable auto insurance.
Must be willing to drive 7-passenger minivans.

Responsibilities:

Develop employment contacts through personal visits and telephone cold calls to potential employers.
Conduct and ensure that all employable MG clients attend job readiness classes.
Conduct other trainings to remove barriers to achieving self-sufficiency. For instance, bus orientation classes, financial literacy classes, cultural orientations, etc.
Outreach to companies advertising employment opportunities.
Advocate on behalf of eligible clients.
Screen all employable MG clients.
Refer appropriate candidates to employment contacts for interviewing/ application process.
Track monthly referral to placement ratio.
Perform follow-up calls to clients and employers within 14 days and 120 days of job placement.
Coordinate with Case Managers and other Departments to insure that support services are provided.
Coordinate with Case Managers and other agency staff and remove barriers to Employment.
Accompany clients to a scheduled interview.
Respond to clients’ individual employment needs.
Respond to employers’ individual employment needs.
Maintain updated information in system and case notes.
Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but is not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready to review and submit own time sheet.
Participate in rotating schedule for food pantry and airport pickup.
Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
