International School of Stavanger seeks a Business Manager

The International School of Stavanger (ISS) is looking for a qualified and experienced Business Manager to lead and manage the business and financial operations of the school. ISS has been operating since 1966 offering fully accredited education from grade 1 through grade 13 to around 520 children from diverse international backgrounds with 120 teaching and support staff.
The ideal candidate must have a documented background in financial management and solid knowledge of Norwegian accounting and tax legislation. This position requires an eye for detail to oversee daily operations with the opportunity to be involved with business and strategic development of a private non-profit organisation.
The Business Manager reports to the Director and is a member of the school’s leadership team. You will become a vital part of the finance and business function and will lead a team consisting of three experienced colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• A Bachelor level qualification in accounting and/or business administration
• 3+ years experience of managing small teams
• 6+ years of experience of financial controlling and reporting
• Up to date knowledge and understanding with respect to Norwegian accounting and tax rules
• Eye for detail and ability to track and manage budgets
• Expertise in Norwegian tax and accounting systems (Visma used)
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with non-financially minded people within the organisation
• Engaging and collaborative team player, able to coordinate the work of a small team in finance and to be an integral part of the school leadership team
• Motivated, dedicated and solution orientated
• Very good communication skills in English and Norwegian, both written and verbal.
• Excellent IT skills
  While experience in an educational business environment would be an advantage, it is not a requirement.

• You will have overall responsibility for finance, accounting and reporting
• Budgeting and preparing presentations
• Monitor and estimate cash flow to ensure the liquidity needed
• Prepare profitability calculations
• Close dialogue with external accountants and auditors
• Responsibility for invoicing, accounts payable, purchasing and payroll
• Further develop today’s financial processes
• Ad hoc financial analysis
• Support the management with business insights
• Be a sound business partner to the leadership team by providing financial intelligence to support the steering of the financial operations and scenarios for strategic decision making, including budgeting and enrolment
• Advise the Board and the Leadership Team on topics connected to the school’s financial viability
