Responsibilities:

  • Maintain contact with all interns in their portfolio throughout the duration of their internship program.
  • Ensure that all interns within their portfolio are educated on the responsibilities to provide updated documentation and additional information pertinent to their progress during the program.
  • Ensure relevant documents are completed and returned by the intern through the required intervals of the internship program. Sample intervals: 6 weeks, 3, 6, 9 & 12 months.
  • Monitor feedback, performance, and liaise with the Operations Manager if issues occur during the program.
  • Obtain confirmation of return flights once the internship is completed and update the appropriate documentation.
  • Upon receipt of the Final Feedback, flights, and Training Plan, be responsible for drafting and providing a Certificate of Participation to the intern.
  • Maintain consistency and be pleasant, considerate, and empathetic to internal and external clients and colleagues, providing high-level support to the interns.
  • Provide necessary mentoring, supervision, and routine feedback on the intern’s performance.
  • Provide direct guidance and supervision of the intern during planned internship activities.
  • Provide a model of professional work habits and attitudes.
  • Provide counsel and assistance to the intern in completing the Training Plan and navigating their way through the Australian Workplace / internship program & AIMIGO.
  • Facilitate contact and promote effective communication with the intern and, at times, the Host Organisation during the course of the internship.
  • Ensure the internship is a meaningful learning experience for the intern.
  • Monitor interns to ensure they are completing assigned duties and gaining benefit from the program.
  • Evaluate interns’ progress and provide feedback often.
  • Facilitate dialogue between interns and supervisors as the need arises.
  • Help interns understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through individual and group counseling throughout the course of their program.
  • Provide individual and small group counseling/mentoring based on student needs.
  • Work with interns to develop skills, such as organization, time management, and effective work habits.
  • Help interns set realistic career goals and develop a plan to achieve them.
  • Positively contribute and communicate with staff to build a happy and harmonious workplace.
  • Prove ability to work as an effective team member, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and retain tolerance, accuracy, and administrative efficiency within a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively establish rapport with clients, liaise, communicate, and negotiate with a wide range of customers at all levels, both internal and external to the organization.
  • Demonstrate personal motivation, initiative, and problem-solving skills to develop solutions, take ownership of client issues, resolve client needs, and provide a clear client outcome.
  • Have a basic understanding of equitable and non-discriminatory work practices and the ability to assess workplace risk and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
