CRITERIA

  • Have 3-5 years of experience in retail planning or in a direct to consumer environment.
  • Have bachelor’s degree in business administration; concentrations in Finance, Marketing, Retail Management, or Supply Chain preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong analysis, critical thinking, organization, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Have strong initiative, self-motivation, attention to detail, and are results oriented.
  • Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, open to buy, and inventory productivity measures.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels/functions of the organization.
  • Can work effectively in a team as well as individually.Demonstrates excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED (TECHNICAL SKILLS):

  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in using MRP/ERP systems.

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time

Responsibilities:

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

You will be a part of the Inventory Planning team, which is responsible for maximizing sales and margin through strategic inventory management. You will be a critical partner to the merchant teams in support of your category. Your team members will include Inventory Planners across all categories, Control Buyers, as well as Fulfillment.
In this position, you will partner with the buying team as an owner of an assigned category from product conception to conclusion. You will be responsible for maximizing sales and margin through strategic inventory management. You will develop and execute product plans from the product line level down to the sku level for all product channels. This position is also responsible for partnering with the Buyers on assortment decisions and managing in-stock levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, execute, and communicate merchandise financial plans and strategies that support the company’s overall merchandising objectives for a specific product line.
  • Collaborate with Buyers to develop top down financial plans at the product line/category/collection levels and reconcile to the bottom-up item plans to optimize sales, margin, and inventory productivity across channels.
  • Develop item demand plans collaboratively with Buyers to align with company initiatives, maximize demand, and ensure proper inventory levels are maintained to drive sales.
  • Collaborate with Buyers on planning and forecasting items showcased in catalog and direct mail marketing.
  • Develop regular forecast updates across product lines and channels based on business performance in partnership with the Product Team and the Director of Planning.
  • Manage open-to-buy dollars for assigned categories
  • Determine inventory buys for product assortments in alignment with inventory plans.
  • Proactively identify and quantify opportunities and risks and propose solutions that will drive the business.
  • Provide items forecasts to buying team to ensure raw materials/finished goods flow seamlessly through the supply chain to meet demand and minimize out of stocks.
  • Develop and provide appropriate business analysis to support decision making, influence future purchases, and product strategies.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained through product allocations and replenishment to support sales and inventory productivity goals.
  • Develop sales and inventory plans for new retail locations as necessary.
  • Work with Buyers to determine and manage exit strategies, recommending items for clearance and controlling aged inventory.
  • Partner with Inventory Management department leadership to develop planning tools and methods to improve business management and improve results.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
