Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE)

Under the supervision and direction of the OIGI Director or his delegate, the Consultant will generally be responsible for some or all of the following duties:

  • Review and assess complaints and allegations;
  • Carry out investigations into allegations of violations of applicable rules and regulations;
  • Conduct interviews and collect evidence;
  • Draft reports on the outcome of the investigation including recommendations for corrective action;
  • Review investigation reports for adequacy and sufficiency of the evidence;
  • Contribute to the development of OIGI’s investigative internal framework;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A university degree in Investigations, Law, Audit, Accounting, or relevant discipline.

FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES

  • Analytical Insight: Leveraging analytical tools and methodologies to uncover insights and support decision-making.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, maturity and the ability to work independently.
  • Strategic Planning: Devising comprehensive plans for investigations, aligning with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  • Communication and cultural sensitivity: Coordinating effectively with local officials, governments and external organizations to obtain necessary support such as interpreters or information providers to facilitate investigative work.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Written and oral proficiency in English is a must for this position.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian or Chinese) or Portuguese is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

The Consultant will report to the Director, Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) and/or his delegate as appointed by the Director of OIGI. The consultant will specifically deliver their work either individually or within a multidisciplinary team.
The ultimate goal and mission of the OIGI is to conduct independent investigations into allegations of misconduct involving WFP staff, contractors and other applicable persons.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Previous experience working with the United Nations system or other international organizations is desirable.

PURPOSE
