Investment Associate
Lighter Capital is venture backed fintech company that has created a new fundraising path for
early-stage tech enterprises. Our transparent, data-driven, tech-enabled process provides
entrepreneurs financing quickly without making them give up equity or board seats. We work
with hundreds of visionary startup CEOs each year and our products are truly disrupting the
start-up finance industry.
We are currently hiring an Investment Associate to join our Credit team in Australia. As a
Investment Associate your primary function will be evaluating all aspects of fast-growing
technology companies in need of growth capital. You will be in charge of determining whether
they are the right fit for an investment by Lighter Capital. Working closely with the Investments
team, you will help to move each prospective portfolio company through Lighter Capital’s
underwriting and credit analysis process as the lead credit analyst. The role is primarily remote
with some in-person collaboration with team members in Sydney, as well as annual offsites in
North America.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

This role calls for a dynamic individual who wants to help fund growing technology businesses
through a product that combines the best features of equity and debt. The right candidate loves
talking with entrepreneurs, learning about emerging technologies, and evaluating business
models. You are self-driven and have the capacity to take ownership of your role yet are
committed to the team and building the company at large.

Financials:

  • You need to understand basic accounting - both accrual and cash
  • You need to have experience evaluating businesses based on their financial

performance

  • You need to have experience presenting recommendations rooted in financial analysis

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in accounting, corporate finance, commercial or investment banking
  • An undergraduate degree with focus in business, finance, or economics preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesize and organize data

and information

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools, in particular Excel
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to performing quality work

Responsibilities:

  • Financial analysis and review
  • Reviewing all relevant diligence materials (including pitch decks, customer references,

Linked In referrals, company product and service offerings)

  • Conducting diligence calls with the prospective borrowers
  • Evaluating key strengths, risks, and mitigating factors
  • Preparing and presenting an analysis of the potential borrower’s historical performance

and future expectations for Lighter Capital’s Credit Committee

  • Developing pricing packages and presenting forward looking projections to the Credit

Committee

  • Preparing an internal memorandum of your finding for review by Lighter Capital’s

Investment Committee

  • Performing tasks necessary to the close the transaction, including the preparation of key

legal documents
