Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

  • BII recently expanded into the Indo-Pacific region with a specific focus on climate change and opened the office in Singapore in 2022.
  • We have begun investing in the Indo-Pacific region as part of our sustainable development objective to help economies reduce emissions, protect the environment and adapt to the changing climate. Our remit will be focussed on the larger economies of Philippines, Indonesia and the Mekong region (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos), and we will be particularly focussed on sustainable investment themes. BII expects to invest between £300 million and £500 million in the region between 2022 and 2026.
  • The selected candidate would be a key part of this rollout plan. They will be work on origination and execution of infrastructure transactions in southeast Asia. In addition to this, they will play a central role in helping BII establish its investment footprint in the region.
  • They will be part of a small team in Singapore and will work closely with senior BII executives across Asia and London for the effective origination, structuring, execution, and monitoring of infrastructure opportunities in Asia that meet BII’s commercial and development impact criteria.
  • This role will include transaction origination by active coordination with commercial banks, DFIs and MDBs as well as direct sourcing of transactions through coverage of relevant companies engaged in development of sustainable infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
  • The role is based in BII’s Singapore office and will entail regular travel to Vietnam, Indonesia, The Philippines, India and other countries as required.

TEAM AND ROLE OVERVIEW

  • This role is part of the Infrastructure and Climate Group within BII. The group focuses on making investments in sub sectors in infrastructure, such as energy, mobility, transport/logistics, ports, and water across our markets in Africa and Asia.
  • The group is organised along product lines: Funds, Equity Investments, Project Finance and Energy Access & Efficiency. This role will be working across products in the region.
    There are 5 job levels – Associate, Executive, Manager, Director & Team Head. However, the team is very flat and people at all levels are involved in the real detail, and in representational work, both to Investment Committee and externally. We are hiring for an Executive to join our team in Singapore.
