Description:

This role sits within the Asset Strategy and Capital Delivery Directorate and reports to the Head of Investment Programme Management (IPM). The Head of IPM is responsible for the following teams: Investment Estimating, Investment Portfolio, Investment Portfolio Risk & Planning, Programme Management Office, and closely collaborates with other Business Partner’s support (e.g. finance, commercial).
As the Investment Portfolio Risk and Planning Manager you will lead a team of Planner Engineers and Risk Engineers. You will play an extensive role in overseeing the successful delivery of investment programmes of many sizes and its deliverables to time, cost, benefits, and risks through clear communication. You will establish the required processes, templates, and tools, and agree the baseline for cost and schedule, whilst monitoring performance against it and incorporating the impacts of risk, opportunities and change in a controlled manner.
This role is a perfect opportunity for an Investment Portfolio Planning & Risk Manager who is highly skilled in planning software alongside understanding of the projects/programmes risk management and is looking to take on more responsibilities, and to play a crucial role in our IPM team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Previous experience in Cost, Planning and Risk management environments.
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Ideally hold or be willing to work towards an appropriate professional body membership or equivalent.
  • Experience of working on large projects/programmes.
  • Have experience working in construction or project management background within utility sector.
  • Experience in implementation of planning principles within the project management community.
  • Experience of working with large range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in management of large data sets into simple reporting formats.
  • Experienced in professional good practice.

Whilst not an exhaustive list the principle accountabilities are:

  • Lead the Planning controls function for a programme, monitoring for accuracy and consistency of plans, cost, safety, environment, and performance reporting.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams to contribute towards creating plans, achieving programme performance, analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams and other project Stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Offer hands-on Planning advice to Senior Management in negotiations, contract development and other business development, ensuring that due diligence is applied.
  • Manage the delivery of Planning key assignments and provide strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives of the business Investment Programme.
  • Inform and update Planning and Risk associated with Investment Portfolio.
  • Identify resourcing requirements to support the programmes and liaise with Planning functions to resolve resourcing issues.
  • Support the long-term success of Planning performance and the overall contribution to the broader company goals.
  • Reviews and captures productivity to measure progress.
  • Ensures Health and Safety through programme integration.
  • Ensure the specific projects programme is developed and regularly updated throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Ensure constructability and planning reviews are carried out in timely manner.
  • Ensure programme change is managed effectively on the project and follow company quality management processes for the governance management of change.
  • Monitoring and pro-actively managing all project programmes.
  • Coordinate the linkage between the programme, the estimate, the cost and the risk management systems by using business software.
  • Conduct cost checks, analysing trends and identifying risks within projects/programmes.
  • Support the preparation of presentation materials for the performance updates with particular focus on Investment Programme risk.
  • Develop and implement the projects risk management procedures and keeping it up-to-date.
  • Develop and regularly maintain the project risk register producing periodic risk reports and facilitating risk management to Senior Management.
  • Liaise with the different stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to the risk processes.
  • Coordinate activities for team.
  • Support your project team and provide an environment to share knowledge and experience.
  • Validate & check planning/schedule reports produced
