About You
Are you an iOS developer with an interest in coaching/mentoring learners ? RMIT STEM college has a fantastic opportunity for you!
This position consists of two main responsibilities that are linked to the Apple Foundation Program at RMIT University.
The first responsibility is to support the technical learning of participants in this program. RMIT is looking for a highly motivated iOS developer who can help support new and diverse cohorts of participants in this program to build technical competencies in iOS development. In this context, you will work with a team including experienced facilitators/instructors from both Apple and RMIT to create engaging, fully integrated, cross-curricular learning experiences for the learners in the Apple Foundation Program.
The second responsibility of this position is to work in standalone projects to build/develop new iOS apps for the program or related digital projects across the School and College. This may be with RMIT researchers, e.g. to utilise apps to support research data collection or to make new methods such as AI models/solutions available through an iOS app.
Other relevant College stakeholders may also seek your developer skills for support, advice and to contribute to the development of required iOS apps relevant to teaching or research.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated experience and passion for supporting the delivery of technology-based instructional learning and empowering novice participants or mentees to reach their potential.
  • Significant experience with the Swift programming language, SwiftUI and Apple system frameworks, as well as Java or C++.
  • Sound knowledge in SwiftUI as the new framework in developing iOS apps.
  • Experience with Xcode and build/deployment tools such as Git, Maven, or Gradle.
  • Experience with UI Testing and Testing tools as well as debugging and profiling testing tools like LLDB and Instruments.
  • Experience with networking protocols (IP, TCP/UDP, HTTP, HTTPS) as well as Web Services (REST apis).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to deliver learning materials in an engaging manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Proven ability to identify, build and maintain relationships with success in networking and stakeholder engagement.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
