Description:

At an exciting stage of growth for the company, Pragmatic is seeking an IP Administrator to join our Patents & Trade Marks team. The role would suit a dynamic, proactive individual who is looking for an exciting challenge and is interested in a fast-paced legal and tech environment. We are looking for an individual who works well in a team and has excellent people skills. This role will involve providing efficient and effective support services to the company’s in-house Patents & Trade Marks team, as well as outside counsel to help achieve our bold growth targets.
We are targeting applicants who have completed the CIPA Patent Administrator’s course, and have experience working in an in-house patents department, or in a patents and trade marks law firm. QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • Completed the CIPA Patent Administrators course (essential)
  • Completed the CIPA IP Paralegal course (desirable)

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 -3 years experience as an IP Administrator within a Patents department (either in-house or in private practice)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly organised and able to organise others
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and through various media (including in-person and online).
  • Excellent written English and careful communicator particularly over email.
  • Proactive and able to see problems or inefficiencies in existing ways of working and propose improvements

Responsibilities:

  • Support in-house Patents and Trade Marks Team and outside counsel with all aspects of the patents and trade marks work. This includes the filing of new, and prosecution of existing, patent applications or applications for trade mark registration.
  • Day-to-day administration of the company’s international patents and trade mark portfolios, as well as any other registered IP using the in-house IP management software (training will be provided).
  • Maintain up-to-date records of the company’s registered IP.
  • Docketing and monitoring of legal and internal deadlines. This includes liaising with the Patents and Trade Marks team, other teams within Pragmatic, and outside counsel to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Handling communications in and out of the company’s Patents & Trade Marks department, such as communications with outside counsel and IP offices. This will include both physical and electronic correspondence.
  • Help to continually evolve systems and processes within the Patents & Trade Marks department to ensure they remain scalable and efficient as the company grows.
  • Collaborating closely with inventors, the Patents and Trade Marks team, other teams within Pragmatic, and outside counsel to resolve queries and gather information.
  • Collecting details of official fees, service charges and time charges relating to individual cases.
  • To undertake training and career development activities as is agreed with line-manager.
