    The role of the Irrigation Controller is critical in optimising sustainable tree growth and production of the Almond Orchard. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day irrigation operations and have the autonomy to implement irrigation programs suitable to your farm. This role also has a significant “hands-on” aspect and will see you monitoring soil moisture and maintaining the farm’s irrigation equipment and infrastructure. This position is based on our Liparoo Farm in the Wemen region.

Reporting to the Orchard Manager you will:

  • Ensure that Irrigation Orchard Technicians on farm are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that irrigation and related maintenance programs can be accomplished
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure time lines and scoped works are conducted
  • Plan, monitor and manage efficient and timely delivery of water and fertilizer to the orchards
  • Maintain irrigation equipment and coordinate timely servicing and repairs of the irrigation system
  • Identify and report wet areas and undertake corrective measures

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys ‘hands on’, fast paced work and is output focused, has the ability to think on their feet, troubleshoot and can lead a team.
To be considered for an interview you will have an understanding of drip irrigation systems, system design and function and a strong knowledge in the use and storage of fertilisers. You will also have the energy and drive to persevere through long seasons, reasonable business and financial acumen (or at least the willingness to learn) and excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills to drive a high performance team culture.
