IT Applications Manager
Full Time Perm
Shift: Hybrid – two days on location
Salary Range: $125,000 - $188,600 plus annual bonus and equity
Location: Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN
Relocation assistance provided
The Manager IT Applications (Customer Tower) is accountable for application support of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) application platforms, with support provided by both internal and external team members. The IT Manager will provide leadership and day to day direction of the AMI operations technology team in the T&D tower, and oversight of service provider work and deliverables.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a proactive and experienced IT leader to drive excellence in AMI operations, leverage innovative solutions, foster collaboration, and contribute to the continued success of NiSource.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Support: Lead a team in providing critical support for AMI application platforms, ensuring seamless operations and high performance.
  • Innovative Solutions: Explore and implement emerging technologies and trends in application management, driving innovation to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the software development life cycle, ensuring efficient delivery of minor enhancements while adhering to NiSource technology standards.
  • Financial Accountability: Achieve department budget targets, particularly operational and maintenance (O&M) goals, through strategic resource allocation and cost-effective solutions.
  • Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety within the team, prioritizing security and compliance in all operations to safeguard critical systems and data.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Develop productive relationships with internal teams, business stakeholders, and service providers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive ITIL best practices and continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing service delivery, customer satisfaction, and overall operational performance.
  • Professional Development: Coach and mentor team members, supporting their professional growth and development while promoting a culture of cross-functional collaboration.
  • Resolution of Critical Issues: Take a lead role in rapidly resolving Major Business Interruptions (MBIs) and Priority 1 and 2 tickets, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain up-to-date systems documentation and ensure adherence to administrative deadlines and processes, contributing to regulatory compliance and operational transparency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience in IT application technology management and/or equivalent plan/build/run
  • 3+ years of experience in end-to-end AMI program implementation
  • 3+ years of experience leading development teams through the solutioning and delivery AMI technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Regulated utility experience strongly preferred.
  • Technical certifications preferred.
  • PMP and/or Agile certifications preferred.
  • ITIL certification strongly preferred. Certification within 6 months of hire required.
