ABOUT US

The T&D Technology Programmes team is circa 130 people and consists of Senior Programme Managers, Programme Managers, Senior Project Managers, Project Managers and Associate Project Managers. In addition, there is an embedded Project Controls Team that provides guidance and conducts assurance activities.
We constantly manage a diverse portfolio of IT projects across TfL, including Bus Systems, Payments - Supporting the delivery of the new Proteus programme, Project Oval, Network Incident management Systems and Network traffic control systems.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Delivering smaller projects or working within a project team to deliver discrete aspects of larger projects and programmes that implement technology changes, business efficiency improvements and procurement obligations to achieve TfL and wider Greater London Authority (GLA) family business objectives.
  • Working with the product leads, business subject matter experts, technical leads, other T&D delivery functions and stakeholders to capture project requirements, define scope and creating project documentation using standard tools and processes.
  • Delivering your projects to agreed quality, time and budget tolerances through requisite project documentation, monitoring project progress and identifying and managing risks and dependencies, and escalating issues to the Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager as required.
  • Leading on management of implementation works by contractors to ensure that deliverables are completed on time and to the required standard.
  • Ensuring that stakeholders are receiving the project information they require in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Deputising for the Senior Project Manager when required.

SKILLS – ALL ARE ESSENTIAL

  • Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to influence people at all levels across and outside of the organisation.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and ability to deliver solutions when met with challenging issues and situations.
  • Ability to plan and manage tasks to time, budget and quality.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities to achieve deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office toolset or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE

  • ESSENTIAL - Understanding of planning and project management tools and techniques.
  • ESSENTIAL – Understanding of managing risks and issues in a project environment.
  • DESIRABLE - Knowledge of procurement processes and financial control.
  • DESIRABLE - A formal project management qualification in a recognised methodology such as APM, PRINCE2 or MSP.
  • DESIRABLE - understanding of governance of projects, change management and decision-making structures.

EXPERIENCE

  • ESSENTIAL – Experience of delivering technology driven/IT projects in a large and complex organisation.
  • ESSENTIAL - Experience of working within formal project governance processes and structures.
  • ESSENTIAL - Experience of working with external suppliers or stakeholders.
  • ESSENTIAL – Experience of working in a busy and fast paced project and programme environment.
