Job Summary:
The Business Analyst I is an entry-level professional position in the Business Analyst job family located within the Project Management Office (PMO) of the IT Department’s Administration Division. This role involves coordinating and managing departmental and Citywide technology projects and evaluating, analyzing, designing, and implementing departmental business process automation, staff training, and documentation. Primary assignment to one or more enterprise application systems includes Asset Management, Land Management, Geographic Information, and Enterprise Resource Planning. The position reports to an assigned manager or supervisor.
Hiring Range for this position is 58,156.80 - 66,882.40 DOE.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field (or completion of program within six (6) months from date of hire) and three (3) years of progressively more responsible technical experience with IT business process re-engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience implementing and administering an enterprise application system preferred
  • Industry certification(s) preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Environment: 95% inside a climate-controlled building and 5% outside.
Physical Requirements: The essential functions of the job require sitting approximately four (4) hours per day, standing approximately two (2) hours per day, and walking approximately two (2) hours per day. The job frequently requires bending/stooping, crawling, fine manipulations, grasping, kneeling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, and light lifting/carrying (objects weighing under 15 pounds). Occasionally, the job requires climbing and pulling and moderate lifting/carrying (objects weighing 15 to 44 pounds). Rarely does the position require heavy lifting/carrying (objects weighing 45 pounds and over).
Sensory Requirements: Hearing: Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation in person, on the telephone, in high noise areas (such as a computer room), and to be able to detect proper equipment operation (detect computer servers and peripheral noises). Speaking: Ability to communicate orally in person, on the telephone, and in high-noise areas (such as a computer room). Seeing: Ability to see and read computer monitor screens, detect color coding, and read various size prints (such as serial numbers and model numbers) and to occasionally drive a motor vehicle
Driving Requirements: Requires occasional driving and possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Technology: The work requires ability to operate telephones, smartphones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and laptop computers, calculators, and all associated software. The work also requires proficiency with computer hardware and software programs, including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, internet applications, and database management.

  • Works with vendors during product evaluations, product implementation, and continued product support/maintenance
  • Assists operational management with technology recommendations for multi-year Capital Improvement Planning (CIP) and operational budgeting
  • Confers with other Information Technology staff in solving, designing, planning, and training on departmental technical issues
  • Develops, conducts, and coordinates technology training classes on City-wide applications
  • Develops documentation of Information Technology operational procedures
  • Works with Office of Performance and Budget (OPB) personnel with process improvement initiatives to coordinate IT requirements
  • Performs basic application administration duties for assigned enterprise application system
  • System-Related Duties:

  • Creates and coordinates specific user training
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external colleagues, stakeholders, and assigned committee members on projects or assignments
